On this project, the original house was an unattractive Victorian edifice, on which the roof was removed and all exterior walls demolished, leaving some floors and interior walls. An architect gained Planning Permission after which the client took the project on himself and Fire-Bird were commissioned and worked very closely with him in the remodelling of the house and the design of all the exterior joinery.

The project required front and back doors, French windows, all the sliding sash and casement windows, the tall arched top window over the stairs and doors designed to look like sash windows.

Glazing bars are 15mm apart from on the front door where they are 18mm in order to allow for a deep enough rebate for thin double glazed panes with crown glass. All main glazing 4mm + 16mm Argon filled void + 4mm low “e” with black spacer bars and 14mm Duplex bars inside the IGUs.

As only one side of the glazing bar is easily visible from inside and out, using black spacer and duplex bars gives the impression that the glazing bars are even thinner than they are – especially when viewed from an angle.

This is the third project we have worked on for this client.
